Easy Prep Middle School Math Valentine's Day Unit Rates Activity

Looking for an easy prep 6th grade math or 7th grade math Valentine’s Day activity? This Valentine’s Day themed Shopping for the Deal packet is a little bit more than your typical Valentine’s Day math worksheet for middle school math. Here is how you can set up this finding and comparing unit rates activity. It is a similar structure to my best selling Shopping for the Deal Activity (Grocery Store edition).

How to Prep the Valentine’s day worksheets

One of the best parts about this Valentine’s Day activity is that it is SO easy to prep for your classroom. Simply print the number of copies you need so that you have one for each students. Staple each packet together and BOOM… you have your activity ready to go. It really is as easy as that.

How does the unit rate activity work in class?

Once you are with your middle school students, pass out a packet to each student. You can decide if you would like them to work individually, in partners, or you could use this as a math center activity for middle school as well. The actual activity focuses on finding and comparing unit rates.

Read the first cover page together with your students. This sets up their activity and task. For various Valentine’s Day themed items, they will need to find the unit rate, compare the unit rates, and decide which item is the better deal! As a bonus at the end, you could have them add up the total amount they spent on their deals!

If you are looking for more unit rate activities like this, I have a full Shopping for the Deal Bundle (at a discount if purchased as the bundle) of this type of activity.
